Genetics of Healthy Ageing (GEHA)

The aim of the Integrated Project GEHA is to identify genes involved in healthy aging and longevity, which allow individuals to survive to advanced old age in good cognitive and physical function and in the absence of major age-related diseases. Data consist of more than  2500 sibpairs aged 90+, and younger controls. Altogether  25 research groups from 11 European countries and China participate in the project. GEHA is coordinated by Professor Claudio Franceschi from the University of Bologna. The funding period from the EU 6 FP has expired but analysis and reporting continue.
